Description These two birds are symbolic of death and misfortune, and are often used in literature to convey sadness and melancholy. These birds are also symbolic of my relationship with my boyfriend. I love crows, and he loves ravens; we are similar and yet totally different. The birds are burned into horse leather using a wood burning tool. Each leather disc is held into place on a 2 x 4 by 16 nails. You can notice the difference in look of the two types of birds; ravens have feathered beaks with a slight hook on the end and arrow shaped tales (represented by the varied tail feather lengths). Crows have straight beaks and flat wedge shaped tails. The birds are similar in size, though the average raven is bigger than the average crow (At least, in America that is. Crows in Japan are massive, definitely bigger than any raven I've ever seen.)
