Oh, lord. I love that shot of the Master sneaking up on the soldier and brandishing his ray gun, even if it hardly lasts a moment.
Magnificent work on the Axons!

wow, just wow.
Ilove how you used the outer space model of axos as reference instead of the practical set.

He's the Doctor I grew up with and I will always hold his wonderfully enigmatic dandy in high regard.

beautifully done. always enjoyed this story but then I'm a big fan of the Pertwee era particularly any stories with Roger Delgado

Delgado was just wonderful. Even though he was the villian you couldn't help loving him. No one has ever come close to capturing the chemistry of Doctor and Master than Pertwee and Delgado in my opinion.

Carnivius In reply to Harnois75 [2010-06-08 00:16:04 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. I love the Third Doctor and yet Delgado's Master STILL had me sorta rooting for him too, and I normally am such a goodygoody Delgado just looks awesome and he has a lot of charisma. I even just like how polite he is, even saying thanks and being civil to people he considers inferior to him and always calling Jo 'Miss Grant'. I think a great villain has to have something irresistible about them, something likable or else they're just a monster I suppose.

I have a soft spot for Ainley's version too in a sort of 'happy uncle' way though thought he was very menacing in Survival and wish he'd got to play it more like that in more stories.

Something always bugged me about Simm's Master 'death scene' when he got shot by Lucy Saxon and the Doctor's cradling the Master and even crying over him when he dies. When I watched that I kept picturing Pertwee and Delgado in their places and it just doesn't work at all does it. It's just not how they should be in my opinion. ironically I know Pertwee was devastated when Delgado really did die. He always mentioned it as being one of the reasons he left the show.

I remember this serial mainly for one of the females looking a bit like Cally from Blake's 7

This episode is one of my earliest memories of Doctor Who. A clasic era when Doctor Who was every bit as popular as it is now. Maybe this piece on reflection is similar to the Gerry Haylock art for the Dr Who comic strips at the time in TV Action. When DW was off the air you could still follow the Doctor every week in really wonderfully drawn art.

I really wish that were the case nowadays even with DW on the air. I'm sure it would inspire countless impressionable young minds if artwork like yours were in a similar format like that.
