Great! More stuff like this, please! So naturalistic, and don't mean the technical part only, but the feeling.

Thanks  I actually have no idea how I painted this, one of those pieces that came together quickly and at the end you think "Well, I learned nothing from that, but I really wish I had because I quite it." (quite liking my own work is a rarity for me, even more unusual given the subject is myself).  If I can work it out, where will certainly be more in a similar vein

Well, I like it very much. It's technically and artistically straight forward, no fuss, just as it should be. In my mind. You could make similar stuff of your friends, family..? It's kind of the things I would like to see. Especially here on dA where people all around the globe meet, it would be interesting if people would share more of their lives: every day life, culture etc. by means of their art.

It's certainly something that might happen as I grow more confident, and feel I can ask people to pose for me more formally.  You make a good point though - I could start with my family, as they're less likely to complain if they don't like the results

You're right too though - as much as I love fan art, it would be nice to see more 'slice of everyday' on DA.

I do a lot (quite a lot) of stuff for museums and such, and even for those characters I use my family members and neighbors as models. It's kind of fun too. But I would, too, like to paint more every day life motifs, if I only had enough time. I try to steel some every now and then for that purpose. I think it's a valuable thing to do.

If you look at old masters work, especially from the late 19th century, much of their finest pieces depict exactly that, their own private life.

And, of course, doing one thing doesn't rule out the other (talking about fan art).
