Description First image using a new system. Intel Core i7 6700K skylake (4 core @ 4.0 Ghz) with 16 gigs of G-skill Ripjaws ddr4 2400 memory. New machine renders almost twice as fast as my AMD FX-8320 (8 core 3.5 Ghz) with 16 gigs of G-skill Ripjaws ddr3 2133 memory. Of course Mandelbulb 3D only uses 4 gigs of memory. This style and formula combination renders fast, this image was rendered at 5760w X 3840h. The Intel took 6:07 (minutes:seconds) and the AMD took 10:23.

Still not an Intel fanboy though. You can almost buy 3 of the AMD CPU's for the price of the Intel. That is just not right. Can't argue that it (Intel) is faster at rendering at least, and uses less electricity, but 3 times the price is gouging any way you look at it IMHO. Not looking for an Intel Vs. AMD fanboy argument here . The AMD comes with a stock fan too, (The 6700K does not) and while it ran hot, it never overheated on my AMD machine with the stock fan.

Made with Mandelbulb 3D

Stunningly beautiful, Hal!
Got the same processor with 32gigs (not that the extra gig's make any difference for mb3d (though I wish one day they will )), switched from AMD too and am happy enough with it, it's fast and it stays nice and cool. So far no complaints.

Thank you! Yes, I have since added another 16 gigs of ram too.

Love this image Hal. What formulas creates such intricate organic structure?

Thank you. This uses AmazingSurf~OctahedronIFS~_Rotate. Julia is on. I've also used various forms of reciprocal at times too. Been using this combo for years now.

I'd love to have about 4 more computers just to do the rendering of my animations on. I have to pause the one that's rendering if I want to do any other work on the laptop because it slows it to a crawl. This is a really great piece. Your work is so sci fi it would fit right into the movies or make great book covers.
