I...I just did research for a comic. That's...gah. I need to wash my hands.ANYWAY. Yeah, I know, that's not really how Mario came to be--first there was Donkey Kong and JumpMan and the first Mario Brothers game and blaaaah blah blah, but just stop and think...what kind of bizarre mind would it take to come up with a mushroom-centered world full of dinosaurs, killer fish-vines and clouds with little faces?
...Shigeru Miyamoto's, I guess.
And who's the other guy sitting across the table from him? I scoured the Internet for like fifteen whole minutes trying to find someone else vaguely attatched to the production of the Mushroom Kingdom, but there really wasn't anyone. So he's, like, a miscellaneous guy. Actually, he looks alot like Satoru Iwata, Nintendo's current president, but he wasn't working at Nintendo back then. Mumblemumblegrumble...

i heard it was because back when, Nintendo was basically a small company [that was going out of business] in a little building that imported japanese video games. one of the video games that they wanted to import was literally translated from japanese to "Plumber Man" the name sucked and they knew nobody would really want a game called "Plumber Man" Just then, the landlord of the building, a short little italian man named mario came in and said, "Hey, hurry up and pay your rent" [in a funny little italian accent of course]. Nintendo decided to import the game and dubbed it "Mario" or whatever. So ya.

I really don't think this makes fun of Nintendo, but just gives more ideas for why Mario was created. Personally, this comic is hilarious, and I love Nintendo!

Nice, My idea on Mario's origin was Mario was Miyamoto was italian drug dealer who sold him shrooms. Luigi was someone in his narcotic trip, the gombas were a result of a bad trip, The koopas are what he saw as turtles when he was high. Bowser was something he saw in a story book while high. Peach was a result of looking at a peach. Toad was the result of an annoying midget. This is the true origin of mario. (DISCLAIMER) This was made as a joke please do critize me I love the Mario games.

You think that game's crazy? Give the Mother trilogy a whirl. The final boss in EarthBound was inspired by Itoi as a kid accidentally walking in the wrong movie theater and seeing a woman get raped.

Actually, I LOVE the story of how Donkey Kong came to be. Also how Super Mario was named Super Mario. Didja know he was originally supposed to be "Superintendent Mario"? Nintendo of America was in a bad slump, and the landlord, "Superintendent Mario" threatened to kick them out. They bribed him by telling him they'd make a video game, with the main character based on him. Thus, an Italian plumber, named Super Mario.

I swear Miyamoto was drunk or high when he thought of the Mario bros game.
But one of my questions is, if its the Mushroom kingdom, and if every body who lives there is a mushroom or turtle or some weird mutant plant, why is it ruled by a human girl? I have seen pictures of the king, he is also a mushroom....also...were did Bowsers childre come from? He just happens to take Peach to some far away place for long periods of time, and he all of a sudden has a bunch of children.....Just think for a moment...
