I made this series of a hunk wearing latex, jockstrap, and sneakers, in red, black — as a contrasting figure to the jock in white. I mentioned earlier that I skipped a few to get to the Angel + Demon. That created an issue because I was not able to explain the progression visually, so here is something made before A+D.

Black was picked as the opposite of white — but red is special. If you know graphic design, then you’d know that red is always the first accent color to pick after black and white. There’s a whole color theory behind it, but I won’t bore you here. If you want to read about it, I recommend looking up Jan Tschichold and Die Neue Typographie. It’s in German, but an English translation is available.

1: This combination of sneakers and latex has an interesting root — it was inspired by a photo of a friend, where he paired a leather outfit with a pair of black sneakers with red shoe laces. I bet he didn’t realize what an impression his photo made. This combination of leather / latex with sneakers give the perfect contrast of edge vs playfulness and lightheartedness.

9: Here paired with blue laser that outlines the Seed of Life, while red light ribbons flow around the figure, to give a sense of movement and energy.

I wouldn’t in a million years think of pairing sneakers with leather and latex — thank you so much for the inspiration, Carlos!
