Description This was my winning submission for the Sonic & the Black Knight art contest! I picked Scrap Brain / Final Zone because I had already done all the others, so I figured I should do one that rounds out my gallery in case I didn't win.

I'm not really pleased with the way the art appears in the game, it's in a video that automatically "scrolls" through the images, and in some cases details have already scrolled off the screen before the transition from one image to the other has finished! I'd really like to see a complete gallery of all the winning entries that I could peruse at my own speed.

But kudos to Sega for the contest, even if I don't like the direction of the new games, I feel like allowing the fans to get anything into the game at all is at least somewhat vindicating.

Aww thanks so much! I'm really happy whenever the art clicks like that.

There's actually quite a few of those Black Knight gallery images on DA if you poke around enough.

The easy way through scrap brain zone 3 is to fall beanth the descending platform in the very beginning of the stage. Scrap Brain act 3 should only take like 0:33 seconds Loved the epicness of this final battle!!!

It blew me away the first time I found that path, it's amazing how easy the level is if you go that route. I don't know why, but when I first got to that area a friend told me that if you went down that way, you'd die instantly (like the platform would keep sliding and crush you) and I never questioned it. (He actually thought that was the case, too!)

THATS WHAT I THOUGHT for the longest time!!! LOL i never questioned it and by accident fell down there and was like 0__________0

Wow! I figured that was our own little mental block, it seems obvious to me now! I mean, the game is full of hidden routes and stuff, of course there's something down there.. Of course, that there'd be such a significant shortcut is the real surprise.

yeah i'd like to see scrap brain act 3 portioned out 2 dimensionally so we can see how all the routes connect.

Like this? www.vgmaps.com/Atlas/Genesis/S…

When you can see it all like that, not zoomed in on a single screen's worth of space, it seems so tiny!

Heheh, glad you liked this one, but I don't know if I'd go that far! The video with the winners is floating around on youtube, if you'd like to see them without buying the game: [link]

Thanks for all the other comments, too! Glad you liked them!

how did you do the lines on this? im trying to put lines on my Photoshop pictures but it keeps turning out all weird did you use some kind of brush or something?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

gsilverfish In reply to sapphii [2010-05-01 04:34:09 +0000 UTC]

Not really, I don't use Photoshop much but even the default brushes have worked pretty nicely for me there. I use a tablet with some pressure sensitivity, but I often go over a lot of the lines more than once, trimming or adding to them until I like 'em. I also usually work from a rough pencil drawing that I scanned in, and that helps me out a lot.

Congrats on getting it featured in-game too.
