Well, I finally decided to share him.This is Donovan Briston. Call him Don.
Steampunk-ishly inspired, he is a character in a world I've created and adore.
He's an incredibly friendly and usually happy character; he loves food, smokes like a chimney, and would prefer beer to wine.
A lower class worker, he's the "hands-on" guy. Hence all of the burns and scars, despite this, he enjoys the work for the most part as mechanics are his life, he can't read very well, but he's brilliant with mechanics and steam power.
He's a doll and I'm quite proud of him, possibly my favorite character that I have created to date. I don't play him anywhere on the internet, sorry, but if you kick at me I might give you some more information if you want it.
Since people have asked, the notches out of the tops of his ears are a factory mark. Factories mark their workers so that they can't slip into another one without being caught and share their secrets. Don's factory took pliers and nipped the tops out of their workers ears. Don wasn't too bothered though...there was a place down the road that took out the left eye. He was perfectly happy here <3

It's too bad you don't have as much time as you'd like to do your own stuff, but at least you get paid? I will still be actively looking out for stuff on him, though.

This made my weekend, it did. Donovan's one of my favorite OC's, I'm actually working on NaNoWriMo with him this year.

Heh, I'm dual-ing my NaNo this year, working on two stories so that when writer's block hits me I can keep trucking...unlike the one time I tried before and failed horribly due to a silent character.
Heh, I think I will as soon as I get the chance to get some colored. 
I've got to crawl through some commissions for my site first, it's kind of depressing to never really have time for my own characters...but at the same time...
There shall be more Don, though, seeing as he eats away at my mind every chance he gets.

Yep. Steam burns go right through your clothing, accounting for the majority of his marks. The rest of them are mainly due to saws, sharp steel, and snapping wires. His lip was cut when one of the hooked wires snapped across his face. Same thing happened to his nose later X3

Oh god...m'Don. The largest thing he's worked on to date was one story high. Higher than that and he starts getting dizzy and clinging to the scaffolding. Heights make him nervous, but they don't terrify him <3

I had a question about the notches in his ears: you said they were for [link] people from other factories, right? do other factories have spies in them to find these people? I would think that if someone came to them: "Ololol i has seekrits from ur rival" They wouldn't turn them away.

That link doesn't work for me...*Sob* Ah, it is like a name badge to get into a building except you can't steal it <3 Every factory has a person whose job it is to skulk around constantly and preform random strip-checks to make sure no one is "spying", double marked (unless you're on record as coming here from another job), or hiding anything X3
Were someone to come up with secrets from a rival and want a steady job here instead. they would be accepted...then basically jailed in the basement on a project because they have the capability to turncoat again. Most places at any rate.

Thank you! I'm...incredibly enamored of it. It's been developing since I was about 14...there are many cultural rules and crap...but it's so fun and I /adore/ some of the people. Jenn found out about it by accident and we've chatted it up quite a bit, resulting in Rod, Vic, and a few very lovely others. Don basically /started/ it, he's my muse for this world, though Rod is louder in and of himself.

Heh, yeah. When I was 14 it was all sparkly and "special". Now it's drearier (somehting I hadn't thought was possible), but more realistic, and now people /can/ be happy there, it just takes some work.
(O___o Wow. Well, if you were nobility and demanded it, he would have no choice but to drop trou. His supervisors would see to it that he did if he looked like he was harboring any inhibitions, anything to make sure you wrote them up a good report or continued buying from their company. It would kill him a little inside though

Don: (Horrified by the notion of "renting", doesn't know what that would entail, he can only imagine a nobility run "harem" or jail.) Uh...I uh... E-excuse me? (Gives you a deer-in-the-headlights look) I-...(Stares over your head at two of his bosses giving him.../looks/.) Of course, miss. (Said stiffly enough to knock-over a cart horse as he unclips the apron and starts on the short, looking as though he wished he would catch fire and die.
