On a side note, Roger didn't like this scene. He didn't like his Bond to appear like a cold-blooded killer. But to me, that's precisely why the scene works so well. Bond is, and always will be, an assassin. But seeing the mask come off in just the right way at just the right time against just the right assassin... Shit got real, so to speak. It is, perhaps, my favorite moment in all of Roger's movies.
