Traditional media rocks my socks
Not only did you deciepted the H.E.V. suit very well, but managed to ad subtle effects like lighting and cloth wrapping, with markers.
His face, well he's obviously the 2nd HL Freeman scince he seems younger (the Freeman from the first's loading screen seemed a bit older than the current) and his hair remains truthfull to the boxart's (I tried to get my hair done that way but it was an epic failure)
But what separates this Freeman from the rest is that he seems happy, I don't know your intention or idea behind it, but it's god-dammed fresh, because all the other devs portrait him in some kind of hatred mood, yours display some sort of calm and coolness attitude while bearing the weight of the world over his shoulders, Perhaps Alyxs has him that way? I don't know, but I'm intrigued.
Continuing to the general feeling is the pose, that's just like he recently ripped a CP's face with the crowbar and adjusts his glasses after the hassle and makes me thing:
What if he just saved a rebel from beign executed in the field by an overwatch?

And the background, oh the background!....
While in this piece it wasn't really necesary it was a case whe is better to let go the imagination of the viewer by illustrating in a simple way and let it have it's way on the background.
In my case, the thing just sweats "City 17"
I don't know, this piece has so much god-dammed character AND IT'S DONE WITH MARKERS.

I actually haven't looked at much other HL-fanart here, so it's new to me that my version of the Freeman seems to be so different 
(and alyx > all other female minor characters. Not that I know many of 'em anyways...

You know you are all kinds of awesomeness when you have a guy like me babbling for 5 minutes about your drawing, effin ace.
Freeman has his mute charm, maybe thats why you like it? because you can make him act in anyway you want... unlike Alyx, who has her pre-set attitude, a bad-ass one by the way, but theres not much you can do with the character without changing itΒ΄s base
