What is a Broken Dreamer?
If a Dreamkeeper consumes too many nightmares, one of two things will happen: the Dreamkeeper either dies or their mask will crack and break apart. The nightmare tears will consume the Dreamkeeper from the inside out and turn them into a Broken Dreamer; leaving nothing left of the former Dreamkeeper.

Nightmare Fog
Where the Dreamkeepers have their dust, the Broken Dreamers have black fog which clouds the minds of dreamers and fills it with doubt, anger, sadness and fear. The fog will corrupt the effects of dreamdust but can be dispelled by a Dreamkeeper "lighting" up their wisps.

"Wings"
For lack of a better word, we'll call them wings. Broken Dreamer's cannot fly with these, but a Broken Dreamer can extend them and use them almost like extra appendages to wound or trap Dreamkeepers. They can't extend forever though and usually have a limit of 10 feet.

Mouths
Unlike when they were once Dreamkeepers, a Broken Dreamer's mouth is always exposed in a gleaming cheshire grin. They'll often chatter their teeth in a show of aggression before attacking with a vicious bite.

Other Info

- While their horns usually appear as backwards spikes, it is not uncommon to see Broken Dreamer's with different shaped horns.

- Due to their lack of ears, Broken Dreamer's tend to be more expressive with body language, such as pawing at the ground, stamping or kicking their back legs. They don't seem to be able to speak very much anymore (if they do its broken sentences and usually no more then 4 words). They have their own language involved hissing, snarling/growling and roars (occasionally purrs)

- Broken Dreamer's can have markings, they're usually small (spots, stripes and swirls) and are commonly on their backs and shoulders.

- While normally Dreamkeepers and Broken Dreamers are at odds, it is not all too rare to find a Broken Dreamer seeking solace and hanging around a Dreamkeeper. It seems Dreamkeepers can tell when a Broken Dreamer is a former friend, even if the other has no memory of their past life.
