I agree here, a thinking character far outweighs the plot value of a mindless monster. but what about the proverbial Tarzan? Someone not truely civilized but, at the same time not a simple beast, but someone in between the extremes...? Food for thought.

First off I have to say you are an artist of insane skill. I love every one of this character designs and I usually hate over complicated designs. But these are pretty and decrotive and functional. O.o I mean you made clothes that look realistic for half human half spider people. Very nicely done. It inspires me to think non-bipeds have chance of beign something more than they have been in the past in fantasy media. I have to agree that dridder not acting so much like typical spiders is a welcome idea. *Archaphobic*
Next I have to say I like Isabelle's design and character backstory but when I saw her method of feeding is scared the heck of out me. o.o; Though I like she wants to meet Magiocrats. I can think of one my OCs who'd love to meet her maybe two who are Magiocrats.
Thirdly I will defiantly try to make a Victorian Dridder after this, but I have to ask is there any material on the actual dridder city of Brissilia? I like to have all the facts before I design an OC.

Though I don't really have any interest in Felarya, I do have interest in monster girls. (Or monster people in general) I must say, I really found this quite interesting. Good art put together with neat descriptiona dn some good thought put behind it.

OK I've been following felarya for awhile now and sign up for 1 day to give some constructive criticism. the defeat of Quaz by the empire is not hard to beleve he is the smallest and dimmest of the gardens. the way i see it heaven is just as divided as hell from all the gods in it saying there the 1 true god that (do to quaz's defeat) they would invade felarya to call it theirs, with hell following to do the same. if you say that quaz's defeat was the straw that Brock the camel's back and started the tenebris war this the empire siding with heavens, ur-sagol siding with hell, and the naga's aiding the gardens push back the 4. sculler's (who only mack agitated gesses) cut it up to many seporit wars because they don't beleve such a large war could have happened. this can also be a reason for the dridder bad reputation for not siding with the guardians when they needed them they sided with an out side invading army who's identity was lose over time. you can say that many dridder tribes and clans defect, leafed, or refuse to be associated with the empire because of the poor reputation it has given their races leading many too beleve the empire no longer exist when it still dose.but its your story you can do what you wont.
there are thoughts where is my penny

Your comments speak to me! I went through the same frustration when trying to work with harpies! It's the exact same problem. They get these generalizations forced upon the race which leads to stereotyping.
Seeing this work of yours almost inspires me to begin work on Torin City and Harpies again, though I'm considering setting it in a different world apart from Felarya.
Great work, by the way. It's really impressively done artwork and cultural details.

let me know how that works because I been thinking about going to a different world also and just taking my stuff with me. I just don't wont to deal with this anymore >__<
I'm glad you agree with these generalizations, they are a bit too much : /

Damn this is awesome! I didn't realize there was such a rich history \ culture to Dridders you have out done yourself.
I have to agree with you regarding your take on Dridders and the way they are characterized. With the amount of variety we find with Naga's I would think I'd be a given that there would be an equal if not greater level of diversity for Dridders, especially with developed societies like one one you are presenting.

There's tons of diversity with Dridders. There is so many tribes with Dridders as well and the potential and creativity with each tribe can be be limitless!
Thank you and I'm happy you like their culture : D

Wow, this looks awesome - both the pictures and ideas. Felarya is lucky to have someone with as much imagination and skill as you working for it.
Sadly, it's not the most.... appreciative place.... as far as that goes, as I've learned the hard way. I really understand what you're saying in your rant at the end. That's the sort of stuff I had to deal with that eventually made me just walk away.
Still, this is all real great looking stuff. Dridders are by far the most awesome part of Felarya and I'm always excited to see your development of them.

"Sadly, it's not the most.... appreciative place...." it seems like the proof is in the pudding with the comment(s) going on : /
I cant tell you how happy it makes me that you still love me stuff with Dridders. The widowed mother you made is an amazing idea and I based everything from this idea. Without it I don't think I would of taken things this far.

JaetteTroll In reply to GreekMuscle [2012-07-09 17:33:56 +0000 UTC]
Heh, well, I only did all that work on the dridders because I loved the seeds you planted for them, so to speak.
And I do understand your issues. Felarya is a wonderful place, but its not very friendly or conducive to thorough development like you have here. Still, don't give up because of that - regardless of that, this stuff is still really good.

I agree with you chuck, I mean spiders IRL don't act like each other and there are literally hundreds (if not thousands) of types, some are lethal and some are not.
Also, This is freaking fantasy !! it's all about imagination and creativity, we should come up with far more unique stuff rather than commit to only two categories.
