Description
In the early 2000's I bought a diary at a flea market. It belonged to an actress from Ferndale, Michigan named Susan Becker. She described moving to Los Angeles in 1956 to get her break. I always used her diary pages in my sketchbooks because her writing was poignant, insightful and emotional. She used the stage name Suzanne Becker.

Many years later I researched her a bit more. In New York City she married the songwriter Peter La Farge (Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash). His biography notes, "their marriage quickly fell apart while each of them continued to struggle with mental illness. Susan finally broke, completely. The two split. Susan was later institutionalized at a Michigan hospital and never recovered." There is gravestone for "Susan LaFarge 1933-1977" in Michigan.

I always wondered why someone would sell a diary but I'm grateful they did.
