The 20th anniversary of the WCW/ECW Invasion – the landmark event that transformed World Wrestling Entertainment into what it is today – is coming this July. And since nearly an entire generation has passed since this watershed, this summer is as fitting a time as any for a gala celebration! A gala celebration so important, arguably, that nearly an entire week should be reserved for its commemoration!

A diverse array of matches – 31 over the course of six days – could make up the festivities, and the number of the occasion should be (of course) 20 – 20 men in a Men’s Battle Royal; 20 women in a Women’s Battle Royal; 10 competitors each representing WCW and ECW (20 in all) for those respective championships and then for an “Alliance Championship”; and, most importantly, a 20-man field (16 competitors in a tournament plus four winners determined by an eight-man tag match) for the WWE Championship. And at the very end of it all, the WWE Champion and the Alliance Champion would square off for the right to be crowned Undisputed Champion of WWE!

For the event, I believe that some of the greatest names of the “Monday Night Wars”/“Attitude Era” lineup should be given a warm welcome: in addition to such WWE greats as Booker T, Kane, Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy, and Rob Van Dam, WWE United should also bring back the following legendary alumni of WCW and ECW: the Dudley Boys, Chuck Palumbo, Little Guido, Tajiri, Great Muta, Justin Credible, Shane Douglas, Konnan, Raven, Masato Tanaka, Danny Doring, Buff Bagwell, Tommy Dreamer, and Sabu! This score of Superstars would all be contenders for the two aforementioned championships – and then for the Alliance Championship! Meanwhile, the current WWE Champion would defend his title against 19 other members of the Raw and SmackDown rosters!

The Invasion truly helped shape World Wrestling Entertainment into the global phenomenon it is today! I think this is too significant a milestone to let pass without a celebration!
