Kei Pirates - SpeedpaintWhy did I paint semi-obscure characters from a semi obscure cartoon?
I liked these guys' designs. Psychotic, hyperactive little skinny things with giant, 'eff-off claws - totally my thing. I don't care if they probably had about two minutes of screen-time in the entire series.
Also, the theme song was stuck in my head, all day.

The Kei pirates had the coolest, scariest designs of any enemy's organization foot solider I've ever seen in an anime. And one of the few that actually stood out.

Do you have a larger PNG file of this? This is amazing work. I'm a huge Outlaw Star fan.

Funnily enough, I just found it, I thought it'd been lost in the many crashes my computers have been through. I have memories of occasionally catching episodes when I was around 7 or so, and let me tell you, these guys freaked the hell outta me. THESE ARE AWESOME MEMORIES. I seriously need to dig it up sometime and watch it, I want to revisit that world. It was totally mindblowing for me at that age.

I never saw it when it originally aired, but when I finally did see the episode when they show up, it pretty much went like this:
"What the...oh, that's creepy - AW YEAAH LOOK AT THESE CRAZY BUGGERS! HOLY CRAP!"
They had that hissy metallic voice that usually shows up in these sorts of cartoons, too...I LOVED it!
Freaked the hell out of me, and that was last spring!

This show is very much on my to-watch-when-I-get-around-to-it list. Honestly Aisha Clan Clan was my first exposure to catgirls. THAT KIND OF HAD A LASTING IMPRESSION ON ME. I drew expies of her for years after that.

WOAH! Those ships have arms - AND THEY CAN GUNFIGHT WITH THEM! Oh, LOOK- a cat-girl! SPACE FIGHT! WOAH these pirates have magic! AND LOOK AT THAT, she can cut a bus in half with a wooden sword! SPACE FIGHT!
It was the ultimate hyperactive wish-fulfillment show.

Heheheheh, I never thought of it that way. I always get wrapped up in the characters and the story when I watch these things, except with Bo Bo-Bo. Weaponized insanity is the only description for that.
