Description Good lord this guy has two pairs of FEATHERED WINGSIES.

Overlay for my Hydrus Chelon on Subeta, Rivers.

I don't even want to start a long long explanation on how he uses his wings or how they look like in resting position, it will make your head explode.

SAI, 3-4 hours.

What I want to know is how the hell you manage to do this kind of work in 3-4 hours when me doing anything remotely close in detail would take me 16+ hours.

Nice work as always.

-shrug- I dunno? Detailing comes in while I'm shading, and for the little brown scales they were already added in (and shaded to 'raise' them from the blue base color) Essentially they're random brush strokes I think little about.

Process for this pic:
1. Sketch (don't have pic for that)
2. Lineart! [link]

3. Flat colors [link]

4. Shading- Done on a Multiply setting layer, with either blue/pink shades, the latter in this case. [link] [link]

5. Highlights- almost always yellow, on an Overlay layer. [link]

Then I just turn the Multiply layer back on~

Very nicely done and your process is pretty simple. I may have to give this a try one day. The way I shade and highlight is a lot different than how you do it.
