You know THAT would have been good angle to Chibi-Chibi in the original anime! Screw "Galaxia's Star Seed." how about presenting the idea that MAYBE the future isn't always set in stone, that there is really NO SUCH THING as destiny, that the future is ultimately WHAT YOU MAKE IT? Presenting the idea that Usagi actually DOES have a choice in how she lives her life but that the choices she does make will affect the future. Make it so there's actually something at stake. Considering when Mamoru died by Galaxia's hands that should have started rewriting the future anyway but no we're never given any idea that's possible except MAYBE if you consider the first part of Stars where Mamoru is under Nehellenia's spell for too long and Chibi-Usa disappeared. That should have stayed a plot point throughout, that if Usagi and Mamoru don't marry than Chibi-Usa cannot exist. Instead of really making Mamoru's death in Stars more of a cliff note that really has NO BEARING AT ALL ON THE STORY! Seriously, he was leaving Japan anyway, so killing him essentially DID NOTHING! She didn't even KNOW ABOUT IT until close to the end so you can't say it had any real impact aside from the fact that he wasn't writing her. She never really questions it, nor does she get angry and start accepting Seiya's advances, because that's what a normal person would do if they felt that their boyfriend/girlfriend was ignoring them. NO! It has no bearing at ALL on the story, so why was it necessary for him to die? I'll tell you why. Because Mamoru is a pointless character in the whole of Sailor Moon, manga and anime and they needed to write him OUT of the story to make room for characters that could DO SOMETHING! But more importantly, Seiya's crush on Usagi amounts to nothing plot wise, save for a few filler episodes. Chibi-Chibi's ONLY point in the anime is to give Sailor Moon a pretty new sword (that she turns herself into, yeah she can do that apparently, deus ex machina much) which promptly gets broken! Yes she's Galaxia's star seed but really that doesn't do much either because what do we see of it! PEOPLE! When you write characters they need to have a point beyond cannon fodder!
