Godzilla is a marine iguana that washed up in the Mururoa Atoll of French Polynesia and was irradiated and mutated by by a 1968 nuclear test. He first mereged sinking fishing vessels across the East Pacific seaboard until he came ashore in San Francisco, California. He proceeded to have a busy night, battling the military and tearing down the Golden Gate Bridge, until he slinked back into the ocean the next morning. After seemingly disappearing into San Francisco bay, Godzilla emerged only months later in Brazil, rescuing a group of ESDF operatives from the mutation Anguirus. The giant armadillo proceeded to attack, but Godzilla arrived to fight the mutation, eventually defeating it after causing a cliff to collapse onto it. As a result, the military decided to spare Godzilla. Godzilla returned to the Isle Del Diablo island chain, and took up residence there, with the ESDF setting up a Godzilla observation outpost, nicknaming it Castle Bravo. Godzilla then took up the duty as the Guardian of Earth, protecting us and the planet from anything that threatens it.
