whew!okay then, few things; that spyro, at first glance, may look like classic spyro, but its actually a hybrid of all three! he has the tail spade of the skylander spyro, the horns and chestplates/spines of the Legend of Spyro and the body and wings of regular spyro!
second, this was done for for his verses series. so give that a gander.
and third, yay, its done!

Update: fixed lighting effects, and added sparx. I can't believe I forgot him.

Sure. Welcome to deviant art. I use GIMP, its free to use so if'n you don't have it you can get it. They're about 3 to 4 layers each, one is a sketch, which is completely covered by the other three when its finished, one is for the outline, one is color, the other is a layer set to 40 % opacity and uses pure black for the crisp shadows. The ink tool is used for the outlines, in broad sweeping strokes ( I don't use vectors )
Other than that, use bold outlines and eye popping color! lotsa contrast and sharp lines!

I admit, I don't really care for the hybrid Spyro, (there's something about his design to me that's just..."off") this is a very, VERY excellent piece. What program did you use to make this?

GIMP, a program free of charge
Hybrid spyro was more of a: quictchabitchin' message to people who are all like: "old spyro is best, new spyro is goblin, LoS spyro is crackhead MAAAAAAAAH!" so I made him in my minds image. Thats 'my' spyro.

If you like GIMP, you'd probably really, really love SAI, granted you need a tablet to utilize it to the fullest.
And like I said, something's just /off/ about it. I dunno...Maybe the shape of the head? Looks a little too egg-like. XD

for me it wasnt something i would play again to be honest,but this was before i found out about Tara voicing one of the spyro characters i swear to luna she has voiced everything i have watched well almost everything i have watched in my life...well that and i come to discover that a few of the other mane 6 had voiced in another show called Johnny Test lol.
