Howdy all.

Hope you're keeping cool; these last few days have been pretty intense. I guess the 4th was the hottest day the modern world's recorded since 1979 ! Here at the Den the denizens and I have been keeping holed up inside through most the day and try to limit our business outdoors. If we do go out it's usually during the early morning or evening. That said, I was pleasantly surprised to see the sky rather overcast today. No rain sadly, but considering the time of year that's to be expected.

I took this opportunity to venture outside and go for a nice stroll around the neighborhood. During my walk I heard what I can only describe as cackling coming from somewhere in some tall grass. Curious, I called if someone was there. After speaking everything became deathly silent for a moment. Even the breeze seemed to stop. Despite the heat I had a sudden chill run down my spine. Before I could start backing away the grass started rustling a few feet away from me. I then practically fell over as I could see the grass part as something came rushing over toward me at high speed-

"BOOOO!"

Needless to say the small witch nearly scared the poo out of me. And she was clearly proud of her achievement as she started cackling again at my panic. Quite the prankster this one. What exactly she was doing in the grass I have no idea and she won't say but she's now the newest resident of the Den... (she's declared as much)
