While his beady eyes look friendly enough something about his lengthiness and the fact that he can spring upwards like a leapfrog makes him a little creepy. Though it could be because he reminds me a lot of the Boogeyman, who was a villain from the King's Quest 7 that would kill your character by crawling out of the ground then springing upwards and pouncing on them.
