Description Seemed appropriate to put this up around Halloween. This was part of a homework for my 'Head & Hands' class, we were to use photo reference of a person, known or unknown and do a kind of value-map/plane related portrait. Once again, portraits are definately not my specialty, but I had tried Imhotep a while back and not been happy with the result, so this looked like a good time to try again. At least this time I can tell who it is

Arnold Vosloo as he portrayed Imhotep in the Universal Picture, The Mummy.

Medium: Prismacolor pencils on toned paper.

ooo! Yay for Imohtep. Its a very good drawing in likeness to him. Wish we could have drawn from our photo references, celebrity or not... instead we had to either draw the other students or that one old man that came in as our nude study...

Only for homework, though. All of the class work was other students and manequins. It looked real interesting when we were setting up the different stations on a hand day...just a box of hands

I am so in love with that movie *-* my girlfriend and I decided at one point that when they actually get around to making the Artemis Fowl movie, he'd be a good Butler.

OMGWTFBBQ.

Mummy fanart.

I AM DED.

...Now that I'm done fangirling incoherently, allow me to say that I absolutely love this piece, and the fact that it's in charcoal just makes me geek out that much more. The toning and planes you've defined on his face are excellent, in my opinion, and the only thing I think might need a little extra shadowing. Totally unnecessary, of course; the rest of the values help to so that they don't stand out quite so much.

SQUEE. MUMMY FANART.

...Ahem. Great work!

Great drawing I saw the title and thought "I wonder if that is that man from the mummy" my facial recognition skills are abysmal at the best of times so it must be a good drawing for me to recognise him

And, as I recognised him as soon as I saw him that is proof of how well and realisticly done this is @_@

Wow! You're so lucky! Actually, I wouldn't know what I'd do if I spotted a famous person...I'd feel dumbstuck, and be wondering if that REALLY is that person And by the time I'd have convinced myself that it was, they'd already be gone xD You didn't get his autograph by any chance, did you?

GoblinQueeen In reply to moonmystique [2006-01-25 09:16:30 +0000 UTC]

lol, see, that's me, too. That's why it's so great to have friends like Jas that aren't shy at all about stuff like that (when we went to a taping of Will&Grace and Seth Green was one of the guest stars, as we were leaving, she shouted over to where he was standing 'Robot Chicken rocks'). Sadly, as I said, I'm pretty shy and don't like to be a bother, so no autograph, but I do have the pic even if we were in costume at the time [link]

You are so bloody cool! Will&Grace is so funny C< And Seth Green is so the best! I loved him in the Austin Powers movies, he was so funny. You do a lot of stuff though, I'd love to hang around with you guys, you seem like such a fun crowd! C: (Awesome costumes, btw )
