Description
Since I started drawing on DA I always wanted to draw a Naruto-based pic but never got the time for it T_TNow I finally found some and here is the result.
The scars on his hand are from the first chapters when he stabbed his hand (to stop the poison from infecting his blood), and the second one is when he blocked Kabuto's dagger (to make the first Rasengan).
The face on the kunai is the main villain in the upcoming movie

Really cool. One tip I would give you is to try color picking from photo reference and experiment with those colors. Usually cool colors for shadows and warmer colors for lit up Areas works. Really, if your values are good color is pretty flexible. Anyways really awesome drawing, I love the lineweight

Thank you, I picked the flat colors from the original but they were too bright and weird, so I lovered them down a bit. And the shadows, I'll take your advice. this is a new techique i'm trying out so the shadows are maybe too hard. Now that you mentioned this, I can see that I overdid it a bit.

Maybe looking at other artist's color palettes that look appealing to you would help too. Also looking at how colors work in real life helps. Anyways I'm kind of a noob myself so take this advice with a grain of salt. Can't wait to see your progress

Have you done studies where you try to copy the colors exactly and try to understand why they may have used those colors? Just an idea but I think it might help. Also a thing I noticed is that you use more stereotypical colors. For example you would use a light blue for water and the sky and a light green for large open fields (not saying that's not possible though). I think understanding the science behind colors in different lighting scenarios would be really helpful. Anyways like I said I'm not super knowledgeable about this stuff either so don't think of what I'm saying as an absolute truth. I think the more you experiment the closer you will get to finding something that works for you. I'm not sure if these are things you already know about but thought I might mention it just in case. P.S. I think your making some nice progress and the more you try to fix things you don't like the better you will get

Okay nice, I'm happy to know we're all good here. I think the change to the sky is better, it kind of adds to the mood, although I'm not entirely sure myself. You should join a forum where people will be willing to critique your stuff way better than me. Maybe conceptart.org or Sycra.net. Also if you go to Sycra.net and go to the resources tab there's a lot of useful stuff there.
