Here is a shot of Pongo from One Hundred and One Dalmatians.

The popularity and success of One Hundred and One Dalmatians 1961 and the 1996 live action versions had lead to unintended consequences. People without doing any of their own research got Dalmatian dogs to bring into their homes. Dalmatians is like the highest maintenance dogs anyone could get. People leaving their dog alone 8 hours a day while they go to work or school will find their homes to be destroyed. Dalmatians were breed to be a high stamina dog, in the 19th and early 20th century fire fighters would use Dalmatians because of their high stamina. Dalmatians would run along side the horse pulled water wagons and they were used to watch over the horses from thieves. The fire department used the best horses to pull water wagons to where ever location.

In 1996 and 97 there was a surge in Dalmatians adoption. Then in 1998 and 1999 there was a spike in dog pounds of Dalmatians because people didn't fully understood the conditions for these dogs. Many of these dogs were then euthanized due to people didn't do their own research.

Case in point. Please do you own research when getting any animal. No matter what ever animal you want to get, be educated.
