Pirates can be Princesses too. 
My excuse is... I saw Enchanted last night and absolutely loved it. So i had to put Scargut in a froofy dress.

Scargut the Gutless was a "piratey" nickname my oldest sister's family gave me after I had my appendix and gallbladder removed. They even wrote the name on my Christmas presents that year.
And then the first time I went to the writer's conference as an illustrator, it was a doodle of this pirate girl (who I named Scargut just for fun) that got me a job illustrating a book for Carmen Deedy...that project was forever postponed, unfortunately. But since then I used Scargut as a mascot of sorts. I kind of wish I'd left my DA name as Scargut the Gutless. It attracted more people. :/

haha! I love it! yay pirate princesses! I wanted to draw myself in some really cool outfit after seeing Enchanted but Prince costumes just aren't as fun as puffy dresses.... sigh

Prince costumes ARE tricky. Especially if you look back at the time period and see how ... prissy... the men dressed. It's kind of hard to make them look manly. That's why we prince-drawing artists are not historically accurate, but do people even care? Or notice? No, just historical geeks...like me.

This makes me happy- I came out of that film thinking "Wow, I hope everyone online draws themselves as princesses," and it's nice to see that it's happening.

I could draw me, and everyone else, as princesses all day! The movie was so refreshing. I came home from it and the first thing i had to do to get my brain to rest was DRAW A POOFY DREEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!! And then i was okay.

ENCHANTED! I saw that last week with my baby cousin...and man o man, there's nothing better than to hear an audience full of kids giggle. It was so sweet! When the roaches started to swirl out of the bathtub during that one song, my cousin grabbed my arm and cried, "THIS is TOO gross!" Ohhhh...good times. Oh, and the Villianess...has become a fav.
Anyway, love this girl's dress...and of course she can be a pirate/princess..pfft, duh.

Really lovely, Scargut! You look so pretty and cheerful and zesty. Besides the excellent lines, I really love the patterns/textures - especially the really subtle ones within the pale green of the dress. Mighty snazzy.

And I'm sure you're right about the heavy mascara - perfect for the drawn character, but not for the walking, breathing one. Heavy mascara on a real person always makes them look "unreal" to me.

Yeah, i was so happy watching the animation. I was like, "Now THIS is art i can relate to!" It made me feel like a good artist or something. Then i had to remind myself that i'm not an artist yet, I'm a substitute teacher looking for a parttime cashier job to pay the next oncoming bill. Oh, real life is SO boring. That's why Enchanted was such a breath of fresh air. It's been so long since ANY animation place has come out with a fairy tale musical. It was like, "Ah, this is MY escape world! It has returned for meeeeeeeeee!!!!" *singing and dancing ensues*
