Description
Darkness falls across the plane,
Wrought of forces most arcane.
A creature stirs in basement deep,
The hearts of men it longs to keep.
And whosever shall be found
By their fear they’ll soon be bound.
And though you’re not the first to come,
You will no better fare.
For no mere mortal can escape
The House of the Blue Nightmare!
Last month really used up a lot of my backlog, since I was working so much on my annual Halloween short story (psst, you can still check it out; there's less than a year until next Halloween) So while I work on some new pieces, I dug deep in my computer folders to find something I never posted before, and I got this.
The Blue Nightmare is an antagonist I whipped up for a D&D campaign I ran a couple years ago. My players encountered it after they accidentally wound up in the Astral Realm, a plane made up of unconscious thought. It's the avatar of Boqor, a powerful blue Dragon that was put to sleep and trapped underground centuries ago. Legends state that if Boqor ever awakes, he will wipe out all civilized races with his devastating lightning breath. As he's slept, though, that mastery of electricity has allowed his mind to grow and change in the Astral Realm, making him just as dangerous of a predator there as he is in the waking world.
And he recited a poem when he revealed himself to the heroes. All the best villains recite poetry.
If you like my work, I'm currently selling commissions on my Fiverr page, including Hero Machine characters like these and a lot more. Check it out here if you think you might like something.
