Figured I'd been neglecting the Snes lately so I threw this little guy together. He's a Nu from Chrono Trigger. 8x10 - acrylic.

I love nus! ^_^
And also the fabulous juxtaposition of a digital character and a traditional medium.

The Brown backgroung is a bit drab... but otherwise it's great -- I like the fact he's looking up rather than straight ahead, gives the painting more character...

You know, I had a lot of trouble find a background color that didn't outshine Nu and I happen to love earthtone colors so I just threw that one on.

Because of a previous post I have come to realize that canvas size matters, but even still the background is plain (not necessarily drab)

I think the Pink Spekkio Nu at the end of time would have been cool to do, but you did a plain blue one... but he's looking up!

Changes everything...

Hehe, how can I not fave this? Btw, have you ever considered trying to draw sprites like this with the hq2x filter applied? I'm wondering whether it would be easier or more difficult to paint.

Yeah I was pretty sure you'd like it. I have considered drawing with interpolation. The main difficulty in that is transferring the game scene onto the canvas. With pixels you can easily place each in its correct spot. With interpolation you can't really do that. More accurately I have yet to figure out a method for it. Also I think the pixel is kinda stylin' right now anyway. Btw thx for the fav.

Nah, it was just a though. The pixels are of course what makes the picture and that's what you should be painting. I so much more prefer pixels and sprites to 3D. Even new 2D games coming out has to be in 3D to be something, a bit sad actually. Btw, did you ever play shadowrun?

Not really. I think I was randomly picking games out of my emulation folder and played the first few minutes though. I think there was something about a guy coming out of a cold box at a morgue.

That's the one. I had never bothered with it mainly due to knowing very little about it and because it is known to have not-so-good graphics, but once you get into it it is a really cool game. I only tried it after a friend of mine said it was actually a very good rpg. The music can be a bit odd at first but after a while it really fits and carries the game, recommended.
