Initially I only wanted to comment that I like your picture but then noticed something I think is worth mentioning and I thought I might as well go a little deeper. So here we go!

First I'd like to mention why I noticed your picture. I like black and white photography because you can subtract the distraction of colors and focus on the scene a bit more.

Your picture is a good example of this as it follows the same concept, focusing on the reality of the picture and not how we want to color it.
I like that you tried to capture something under appreciated here on DA: everyday life and it's interesting spots/topics instead of individuality and "uniqueness". DA in my opinion is way too flooded with beautiful models with a ton of make up on them.

I like that you didn't pick the white-blonde-mum-with-small-children-in-ideal-situation cliche. There are lot more idealistic families and capturing them is just as important as those (imo) rare idealistic ones.

Where my problems start is the angle you have chosen.
The trash can is not necessarily a bad thing here but the overall composition feels like the guy facing the other direction is more outstanding than the rest of the party. If I haven't read the title I would have thought it's about the dude who is looking for someone. That would also be a good picture but then the little girl in the foreground would have been a bit annoying in terms of composition.
In your shoes I would have tried to take multiple shots and try to make the girl integral to the shot and try to make the mom more outstanding in the picture.

In short:
+1 for doing it in BW - well done with the contrast!
+1 for the concept of everyday life as a topic, this counts towards originality for me
+1 for spotting the scene - I see what you meant with the picture
-1 for the angle
-1 for lack of obvious focus on the mom
-1 for the blurry kid in the foreground - I know she is part of it but unfortunately in the wrong place

I hope you find this a fair critique. The main reason for this critique is that your picture may not be perfect (to me) but I think it's worth talking about.

Mother of four. Fascinating. Great photo !!   
& several ways to interpret that title. In DC, inner-city (most of DC) single mothers are worshipped as goddesses, because there are so many of them carrying the entire burden of the family. The other way of interpreting the title I dare not say- but there was a movie made on this subject called Baby Boy-2001. Not too bad a movie
