Well...you have good taste! I just got back from Europe, including Switzerland, and would you believe that i spent one evening listening to a local "gesangsverein" (singing club) in a little Swiss village (Krattigen) and most every song had yodeling. I'll post some things in a few days, but, alas, no yodelers.

Nine was very young to make such a big decision. But there's always time to reconsider. I was 29 when I first studied German, so we can have a contest as to whose Deutsch ist schlechter.

Yes, good luck was on my side. It rained constantly before I got to Switzerland, then it started again the day I left. But for about 10 glorious days, there was sunshine. (Here come my final "deviations" from that great country.)
