Description The Aztec god of Death and the dead. He rules over the nine realms of Mictlan and is married to Mictecacíhuatl goddess of death.

His eye sockets do not have eyes in them. He has skeletal imagery (which in Aztec culture was a symbol of fertility, health, abundance, life and death). He has vicious claws that he will willingly tear those who enter Mictlan apart. He and his wife live in a windowless house in Mictlan. His worship sometimes involved ritual cannibalism.

He is quite tall for a death god. He is associated with bats, spiders, and owls. He is one of the only few gods to govern over all three types of souls identified by the Aztecs, who distinguished between the souls of people who died normal deaths (of old age, disease, etc.), heroic deaths (e.g. in battle, sacrifice or during childbirth), or non-heroic deaths, which would either go to Aztlan or Mictlan.

According to Legend, The god Quetzalcoatl went to Mictlan to get the bones from previous generations of humans to revive them. He got there and took the bones and the Death god gave chase, he sought to block the path of the feathered serpent but he failed but the serpent tripped and fell into a pit breaking the bones. Quetzalcoatl collected the broken bones and went to Earth to revive humanity with his own blood and this is why humanity comes in different shapes and sizes.

When a person died, they were interred with grave goods, which they carried with them on the long and dangerous journey to the underworld. Upon arrival in Mictlan these goods were offered to Mictlantecuhtli and his wife.

I wouldn’t call him evil, he would be a guy you just don’t want to mess with.

When the Aztec empire fell, he managed to get some of the Spanish to worship him in Mexico and California. Her wife inspired The day of the dead. He is glad people are starting to worship the pantheon again. But he still has some hatred against Yahweh one for the Spanish Inquisition destroying most Aztec culture and two because of how he claimed that he was the only god.

He often hangs around his and other Death gods (Doesn’t anyone find it odd, that death gods are usually married and often very happy).

He would get along with Alastor and Vaggie.
