It's been some time since I did an actual canvas painting (or for that matter, at all!), so here's a little something I whipped up yesterday (and it took me less than a day to do it!), and it's one I've been wanting to do since Late-Spring of 2020. Now, to some, this may just be another piece of Thomas The Tank Engine fanart, but it's a little more personal than that:
Over a year ago, my mom had a stroke, and has been in a rehab and care center since then. And thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, she has had minimal recovery; she's more cohesive in speech and facial features (a couple of months ago, my sister observed that she finally got her full smile back), but her whole left-side is still immobile and is apparently struggling to stay positive (you can only do so much when your only form of communication is over a cellphone and through a window).
So I made this painting not only as a birthday present for her (it's later this week), but also as a reminder that she's still in mine and everyone's hearts and thoughts; to cement that this painting is from me, I specifically went with Thomas because, one, I'm pretty much the only member in my family that still likes him (despite the upcoming change the franchise will be getting in 2021 XP ), and two, we're both "Really Useful Engines" (she always called me that whenever I was a big help to her, especially in the couple of years prior to her stroke).
Hope you all like this, and that it gives all of you the same feeling that I hope it'll give my mom; no matter how far away they are, someone will always be thinking of you.
