This is the image sent and the answer from the University :Dear Giandomenico D'Amoja,
Thank you for your message. We are the organizers of a non profitable academic conference on Goldrake at a French university. No posters will be sold and no money will be made on that event. The poster is, in fact, for information only.
We saw Lise Halluin's artwork at an official exhibition in Paris ("Goldo Expo" at the Sakura Gallery in Paris) last year in 2014 and we liked it very much. We asked her the permission to use her work and she kindly agreed, granting us the rights without asking for any payment.
In 2014, I personally interviewed Lise Halluin and asked her how she got the inspiration for her artwork. She precisely described to me her process of creation, explaining how her inspiration came from the cover of an old DVD edition of Goldrake in France (you will find the image enclosed). We honestly believe she didn't copy your artwork.
In fact, with the theme of duality and doubleness in Goldrake (the doubling of faces is, for instance, present twice in the credits sequence only), it is entirely possible for artists to come up with similar ideas. Moreover, the proportions of the two drawings do not entirely match and her reappropriation and re-colouring of the material cannot be achieved with a simple Photoshop filter, as her accusers claim.
Your artwork is very nice but, as it is, I'm afraid we would not have chosen it for the poster of this academic event. Besides, when the Sakura Gallery exhibited Lise Halluin's work on Goldrake, they had obtained the permission directly from Tôei to reappropriate the characters from the original animated series. Have you, by any chance, done the same?
If you think there is a legal issue here, we suggest that you contact Lise Halluin, who is the person who granted us the right to use her work.

Dear Gendamo, the University just announced that they where stopping the use of the poster at least until an explanation from ideealizse.
Victory is bittersweet, but it's a first step in the right direction. Now I wish they would apologize to you.

don't feel down, art community is on your side. And the message went through, there's an uproar right now on facebook and twitter. A few artist started to tweet her directly to demand that she stop using her art. If you can, you should do the same with a an image of both works, side by side. Maybe even with the old one in the link theoldreader.com/profile/5141d… . to show that even if now it's slightly different she started with a direct paintover. Not taht anybody honnest would believe the contrary though.

I think the organizers of the exhibitions are the worst because they actually could have made the right and respectfull choice while the "artist" is way too long gone in her ways. For her it's not personnal, you're just part of her free supermarket while thos girls went straight for any weakness they could think about.

...credo che invece il punto saliente sia proprio questo,e cioe' che lei abbia ricevuto l'approvazione dei Giapponesi,che le hanno concesso di omaggiare Goldrake. Sarebbe opportuno che io facessi altretanto risalendo alle stesse fonti,magari denunciano la copia,e chiedendo di essere accreditato come artista ufficiale di Goldrake,piuttosto che solo FanArtist.

To be honest, no one is really sure she has got any approval at all... but even if so...you have every right to be a fan artist. It is a legal grey zone. You don't sell, it's an hommage...It is on the other hand NOT LEGAL for her to take your fan art, play with it and SELL IT. This is illegal by any european legal system. We don't call it plagiarism in France because plagiarism is just taking someone else's work and trying to pass it as your own. It is "Contrefaçon", one step higher, because of the modifications on your work.

Per quanto reprorevole poteva farlo se avesse venduto un originale realizzato a mano,cosi non e' invece per delle stampe,per lo piu' ottenute elaborando in maniera dozzinale immagini altrui.
I could understand,but not approve,if she sold an her original handmade; so isn't the same with prints, mostly' obtained by reworking with digital filters,images of Others.This is illegal.

Several of her so-called "authorisations" have been debunked (Marvel, for example). It would stand to reason that she might have lied about having Toei's permission.

Sarah & Marie, Yes effectively, the present work from Lise is not exactly the same. She slightly rework the drawing of Gedamo. But she has indeed used the original drawing of Gedamo, and sold it for is first Goldorak, see here : theoldreader.com/profile/5141d… .

betwen Italy e France and the different legal rules.
