Back when I read the page regarding the funeral of Celestia and Luna, the crowning of Twilight and the prophecy reveal. I always wondered what caused the Royal Sisters to die in the first place since they are immortal, leaving a giant elephant the room. Well, better late than never.

The things one is able to talk themselves into doing when they're the last of their kind... Not entirely surprising. She's a creature with a long life who was the symbol of friendship without any friends to spend her long years with. If there were a way for her to correct that, she'd do whatever it took.
