Great picture...! Β
The style of her spear reminds me to the 'Longinus-Lance' from 'Neon-Genesis-Evangelion'Β© Β
But isn't her shield a bit too small...?Β Β
Looks more like a buckler to me, better suited for fencing, than for a cavalry-charge with lances...! Β
She seems to be an interesting character... Β
Is there a background-story about her...? Β

it's rather like a buckler indeed, but it's less tiring than just a big shield.
I haven't thought of a background really....
You could easily imaigne she's a knight in some fantasy land, in her 30's

Love the proportions on this. People usually make the horse half to big, so much wasted space.

Could have given her padded barding (horse armor) for some protection.Β And she doesn't have any helmet of any kind?Β You did a good job in presenting this piece.Β If my half-elf ranger was about she would accompany this lady anywhere when a good companion is needed.

a mix of both, but rather a spear in its use

What it that shield supposed to block its so small
π: 0 β©: 2
gamera1985 In reply to altran79 [2012-04-26 09:17:10 +0000 UTC]
a small shield is often used to deflect: so it's lighter and permit more movement while providing defence

Yes but smaller shields won't help in an arrow barrage

They're not always supposed to. Buckler shields are used for blocking melee attacks, and are small to help with mobility. In this case, it probably should have been bigger, but small shields had their place.

Considering how many people have said it, I doubt I have to mention that it reminds me of Sega's Shining Force series, where if you got a "Knight" or a "Paladin", that person was always a centaur.
In fact, the Shining Force world seems rather bereft of humans. You get less than 5 in the party (which consists of 40 or so characters, of which you can only use 12 including the main hero).

Wow, I can't believe that no-one else thought of fusing a horse and a knight, they look so perfect as a centaur. Great job on the armour and weapons, too.
