It was fairly obvious. To nearly everyone. Except Naruto. It was obvious how Hinata felt; how much she loved him. But the boy was a fool. Too focused on his dream, too focused on his ongoing rivalry....and way too focused on Sakura....

A growl escaped from another young ninja as he watched his teammate struggle.. As he watched her try to get Naruto to pay attention to her. But the blonde had gotten impatient with her stutters...her inability to speak. He had never even noticed it only really happened when she was around him....

Kiba walked over to the poor girl. He could never admit it....but he had a thing for her nearly as badly as she did for Naruto. The good thing was he was never nervous around her. They had been teammates for a number of years. He stared into his friends disappoitned expression before wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

“C’mon, Hinata. If he hasn’t figured it out by now, he’s not worth the time. Naruto’s a fool, and he doesn’t deserve you. There are plenty of other guys that would love your attention.” He watched as lavender eyes turned to him....nearly to the point of tears...and he couldn’t help staring Hinata was shy, timid...had very little confidence. But Kiba loved her. She had a sweet personality...she was stronger than she appeared, or even thought she was. And she was the most beautiful girl he knew.....

He blinked as the realization that he had just missed something struck him. . “Sorry Hinata. What did you say?”
“You’re wrong. Being quiet has it’s disadvantages...and one of them is noone ever knows the real you. It’s my fault, I suppose....but it’s a habit I can’t seem to break. And as long as I remain this way....noone cares to get to know someone they think as feeble, and desperate.”

Kiba’s jaw dropped at his friends sudden statement. She was being honest, open...and she wasn’t blushing when she spoke. He steered her away from the center of town. “No. You’re wrong. People don’t care for others simply because of their strength. And in my opiniong...being quiet is better than talking nonstop.” they passed by two chattering girls. “Look at THEM. They never shut up...and that hasn’t gotten them anywhere. Neither one has Sasuke yet, do they?” Kiba gestured towards the two girls....not realizing the icy glare he received in response when he was heard. His attention was completely on Hinata.

They came upon their usual training field and Kiba led his friend to the post, before leaning against it. “Hinata. Believe me. Naruto isn’t worth your time. His attention is in a million different directions....Hokage, ramen, training, hokage, Sakura, hokage, Sasuke....Hokage...”
He trailed off slowly, watching as a small smile lit Hinata’s delicate features.
“You said hokage four times.”

Kiba grinned. “Yes. I did. That’s because it’s where most of his concentration is at. He’ll do anything to achieve the goal....and he doesn’t realize what’s going on around him.” Kiba wrapped his arms around Hinata...pulling her into a hug. “He has yet to grow up. I meant it, there are a million guys who would love to have you.”

Hinata hugged back fiercely....Kiba was her best friend, her confidant. But her eyes widened as her friend dropped a light kiss on her lips before breaking the embrace. “Kiba?” she questioned uncertainly, earning a grin in response. “Some even in Konoha.” he finished his previous statement. A thoughtful expression crossed her before she hugged Kiba again.
“Do you mean it?” she asked quietly...but she felt the body against hers jerk as he nodded. “I do, Hinata. I like you.....and although we’ve been friends....teammates...I can’t help it.” he broke off as he pulled from the hug, reaching a hand forward to pinch her nose. “You’re just so damn cute.” he added teasingly.....pleased at the blush he received. And of the fact that this blush....wasn’t due to Naruto. It was because of him. Kiba Inuzuka. The dog-man...whom everyone else found smelly and irritating....

He leant close once again....to drop off another gentle kiss.....
