Scanned right out of my sketchbook... the shadow kind of killed it. ><

A bit of art for the lovely Dragonwolfrooke. This is her as she would appear as a Zuff, the main inhabitants of a world I've been creating for a story.

Rook is a member of the Unkr tribe, a wandering story teller who lives in the frozen valley between the southern cliffs and northern mountains of Zuffia. The Unkr were once a mighty tribe who worshiped the fire goddess, a phoenix, who gave them power to make fire through certain bits of ore she left behind after each visit to the land. Over a century past, the phoenix mysteriously disappeared, and the land was locked in an eternal snowfall. Faithful members of the Unkr tribe remained in the valley, awaiting the day when the goddess would reappear and melt the snows away from the land.

Rook searches for the goddess, and anything else she can find, and keeps a journal containing the stories she's learned and sketches of the things she's seen. With her travels a descendant of the goddess, a young phoenix who aids her in her travels.

Her name comes from the Unkr language, a dead dialect of the common Zuff language, and is composed of two particles: Ro and Ok. Each particle is pronounced separately, so in the actual dialect, it would be pronounced "Roc", but most modern speakers give it the more common pronunciation "Rook", just as it appears. Most characters used in the written version of the Unkr dialect have been lost, but many characters representing names have remained, as displayed in the image.

Yeah... didn't have to stretch at all to make her name fit... XD

She was fun to draw. I'll have to do more of her in the future.
