I use "layer style" to make special effects too, like lightning. I should start using custom brushes though.

thank you for doing these (Quick trick)'s that you share.Β I may not ever use a flying sword but I can use this for leaves and many other things as well, once I figure out how to do it in MS5.

yeah I mostly use brushes setting for natural drawing, leaves.. rain..
MS5 is actually more convinient since it can brush "pictures", not just silhouette, and there're a lot more setting than in photoshop.
To create a brush in MS5:
-Create a new file, draw or import images into that file.
-Edit > Register Image as Material
-Add Name, Choose Location, Add Tag if you want to search for it easier.
-Use Decoration Tool (B) > Choose a random brush in the SubTool > Click on the blank paper at the right bottom to create new brush.
-In the Tool Property > Click on the Clerk at the right bottom > Choose Tab Brush Tip
-Delete the old Tip Shape > Make sure you choose Circle/MaterialΒ > Then click on the blank paper to add the Material you created before and use it as Tip Shape.
-Play around with all the tabs and options for half a day and you will be able to create a lot of interesting brushes
Or you can just go to google images, type in "manga studio brush" or "clip studio brush", there are thousands of MS Brushes are waiting for you to download..

Thank you!!!Β Honestly only for the past few months have I made myself sit down and draw for an hour a day and by doing so I'm finding so much more about my programs and also little tricks to make a piece finish faster.Β Instead of spending 20 minutes getting the gradient to look just right I've figured out how to change the damn tool to how I like and do it in a few minutes, by doing so it gives me more time to work on the focal point of the drawing and improve.Β Plus I'm not working in a frustrated mindset because I know there has to be an way to do what I was trying to do and then I get sucked into the web for almost my entire allotted time and end up barely drawing. lol. So yeah, thank you for your tips!!!!

This is epic! Is it possible you could do a tutorial thing on animating changes in views(ie: side to 3/4 to front)? That's something I stink at xD

Drawing water, waves, and reflections would be helpful to.
You don't need to do it, just some suggestions~
