Description

I'm not sure if our lead artist Virt was ever totally sold on these two's designs, but I couldn't help but give a second shot at these two. Obviously Virt laid the groundwork for the design, but there were a couple of things I wound up changing and interpreting a little differently from Virt's last pass on these guys. I encourage you to compare his original sketches with my work here! He's documented a whole TON of his and our process on his tumblr made just for it. These were actually made almost a full year after Retro was taken down! I remember feeling pretty sad that all of our cool plans and all of our effort we had put into future updates down the line wound up having to just be shelved. For whatever reason, I felt inspired to do my best to realize these two, as I probably would have done once we got around to their introductions. I'd say I'm MOSTLY happy with how these two turned out, though I'm not totally sold on Darwin's scales. He looks kinda out there! That said, I do like the texture it provides and I think it's subtle enough to work, even if I don't think he would have gotten that detail if he were ever officially designed.
