In this case it's the fur of a Bengal cat

"Glitter" is a desirable trait in the Bengal cat breed - a Bengal with this has a coat that will sometimes come alive with sparkle when light (particularly sunlight) catches it from certain angles. Other times you get more of a satiny sheen. Photos of a whole cat rarely have enough resolution to capture the sparkle effect, plus in a still photo you don't have the effect of the sparkle changing with movement.

Yesterday Loki was lounging in a patch of sun and it was really showing off his glittered fur so I grabbed my 90mm macro lens and took some photos, including this one.
