What if my characters were the opposite gender?

Yes, I've done this before but not with almost all of them. It's interesting to see the results and I learned something about the essence of a character this way.
What I mean is that by changing the gender of the character it's possible that their entire outward appearance changes, so it's important to communicate the demeanour and personality of the character if you can't rely on solid visual cues.

Francis Cervicé is a good example of this. The entire body type is totally different from Fran Cervicé with him being male, and the choice of clothes makes it difficult to pull off a panty shot or something similar. Instead, I focused on getting the personality down, that being rather cute and at times shy. I've had to do this with a few of them in different ways.

The real question is, "did I succeed?"

Extended comment time, gonna say something about each one.

Well firstly I had to choose an equivalent name for each switch. Some were easy, others not so.

-Felix Nightshade was pretty easy, I just shortened the hair (which is still red) and everything worked from there. For the record, Felicia's father is named Felix. He probably looks a bit like this, but with brown hair.

-Thomas "Tommy" Langley was slightly harder. It's mostly getting that trademark cuteness across and having to cut off most of the hair. Not too sure if I've got this one right or not...
I also had to think about the name for a while, but Tommy seemed like a good switch from Tabby.

-Leona Ryans was another easy one to draw. Slightly longer hair and feminine form, but still all attitude and sexy. I'm not happy with the effect of the strap on the shoulder holster, but thinking about it, it would come across the chest and probably not fit anyway...

-Geena "G.K". Again this was pretty much a no-brainer. Longer hair and a bra to cover up. Gene "G.K" doesn't wear a top afterall, unless he's wearing his maroon jacket.
Hm, dude still needs a last name. Maybe something intellectual, gotta start with a K.

-Victor "Vic Violet". Simply because I couldn't think of an equivalent to Violet. This seems to work though. I just captured that look that Violet has and put it here, as well as making the clothes more masculine. Still has the bell though
Come to think of it, he reminds me of Orochimaru...

-Kaeman-ko "Kaeko" & Nohman-ko "Nohko". Those of you who visit my site may have seen this take on these two already. Had to be added here Yes, Nohman-ko is providing some cheap fanservice. Dunno if I should find this funny or scary when I think about who they represent

-Francis Cervicé has already been explained, but yeah, the lack of Fran's rather familiar shape caused some problems for me here. Not sure I've got this one down.

-Leigh is named as such because it's the ONLY thing I can think of that remotely matches Leilani. Seriously, there isn't a male equivalent to that name that I know of.
This one was just weird to draw if I'm honest, it's right and it's not at the same time. I guess it works though.

-And of course there a female Funky Alien. I couldn't really think of what to call her. Funkette? Funky-ko? Funk-girl? It was a strange on indeed.
Still, I really like how she came out. The females are supposed to have hair (Xoë for example, though I ran out of room to draw her) so lets just say she shaved her head
Also, I didn't realise it looks like she's flipping us off until I scanned and resized the sketch. Sorry 'bout that.

So after that rather lengthy description I'll hit the submit button, reply to comments, and get back to the commissions I should be doing.
