Are you using a tablet? And if so, do you have pen pressure enabled? What I notice is you make beautiful strokes, but the lines don't vary in width or rather, they don't taper. I think that is what makes your work look sketchier than it really is. I dunno, just a thought. Keep it up, dude!

Frost7 In reply to Oshouki [2009-02-15 00:33:58 +0000 UTC]
im using a tablet, its harder using it than on paper,i use to set my pen pressure enabled but now i only use it for flow and not opacity,it makes speed painting faster and i realize it makes the works less sketchier, i feel im not using some of the basic right, like often a lot of people use smudge and blur tool while i dont, because every time i use it,my computer starts to freeze all the time when it gets much detailer, but if my canvas were any smaller, getting details right is very hard. Youre right about that man, thanks a lot.

I see. So the lagging/freezing in PS is that noticeable for you when you lower Minimum Diameter under Brush Shape Dynamics?

Frost7 In reply to Oshouki [2009-02-18 07:46:00 +0000 UTC]
yep,PS sucks up a lot of virtual memory, and its pointless to draw in such a small canvas because the pixels gets blurred. im hoping to get my hands on PS CS4 soon.

I've been told that CS4 has a large amount of redesign to improve memory usage, speed and responsiveness, along with some long awaited features. But having used the trial for 2 weeks, the hype turns out to be bigger than reality. But then again, I use a 5 year old machine.
Drawing fast circles on a large canvas in PSCS4 with a 40px brush still comes out jagged (not smooth,) marginally better than CS2, but hardly noticeable. I don't know what the difference is between North American and Japanese made drawing/painting programs, but the Japanese ones (with the exception of mangastudio, lol) are always so much more efficient and smooth at drawing. SAI, with same sized canvas and brush, kicks PS's ass when it comes to clean smooth lines.
