Description
Robert Farrell of the past was the once-villain-turned-hero known as the Rocket Racer. Robert Farrell of recent days has had to fall back on his ingenuity and skills, putting his super heroing days behind him. Admittedly, he was a little ashamed when he sought employment with the villain Doctor Octopus. Unfortunately, his mother's medical bills were not going to pay themselves. As a tech for Doc Ock, he quickly gained favor by correcting simple errors that could have cost Doc Ock his life.
As he was drawn into the confidence of Octavius, Farrell was given insight to Ock's boldest operation: Stealing Spiderman's body. As Ock's health failed he relied on Farrell to vicariously carry out the more meanial tasks. In secret, Farrell stole the plans. He and the "Superior Spiderman" then parted ways.
As Farrell watched the new Spidey wreack havok and then finally find redemption, he confronted the wall-crawler. When Spidey admitted that Ock had stolen his body, but that he was able to regain control. Satisfied that Spidey was Spidey and Ock was gone, Farrell left.
He contacted his friends in the Outlaws; The Prowler, and the Puma. He told them what he had been up to, and his ultimate endgame. No longer would crazy mad scientists hold the world hostage. Racer had a better idea: Superheroes without suffering. Th idea was to use Doc Ock's technology and kidnap supervillains. The group would then take possession of the villains bodies and use their destructive force for good. Then they could transfer back into their own bodies and live their lives as normal.
Puma called Racer a psychotic and couldn't believe what he was hearing. He was about to storm out when he looked to Prowler for support. The Prowler eyed both parties for a moment and then sided with Racer. An argument ensued with Puma issuing the ultimatum "Do this, I will find you and stop you!"
With Puma gone, the duo were in need of financial backing. The Prowler suggested Donyell Taylor, also known as the Night Thrasher. They approached him in secret, and laid out their plan. Taylor had just had another New Warriors false start and was becoming apathetic to the whole hero situation. this new plan was different and it hooked him....no risk to his loved ones or himself. He was in. He gave them the money needed to assemble their machinery...but who would fill their ranks?
Donyell had a couple of suggestions, but Prowler nixed the idea of using other heroes. He wanted paid mercenaries. Heroes might get a moral notion of trying to stop what they were trying accomplish. They all agreed, and they all agreed on who to contact....three 1st class tickets to Symkaria please.
As they each laid out parts of the plan to Silver Sable, she was more than willing to help on the endeavor....providing they met her price. After they agreed on the price, they needed candidates. Silver offered up Paladin, Battlestar, and her Wild Pack. The group agreed they wanted mercs....but heroic mercs, not just employed soldiers. They could not find Paladin, and Battlestar had just signed up with the Defenders.
Sable had contacted Cathy Webster , a former partner of Captain America who had trained with him extensively. She seemed apprehensive at first, but joined feeling she could do some good. Felicia Hardy and Julia Carpenter were also sought out, but both turned down the idea. Donyell approached his former teammate Turbo, who rejected the idea outright, but introduced Donyell to Johnny Gallo. Johnny felt he needed a change and agreed to sign up.
While Sable and Donyell were out recruiting, Farrell and the Prowler were out finding potential targets. Farrell remembered that Ock had put Stunner in suspended animation. After breaking into Ock's lab, and a small confrontation with his lackeys, they accquired the amazonian strongwoman.
Prowler confessed an apprehension to the process. He didn't want to leave his body in other's hands. Farrell understood and said he had an idea. They went to a secluded part of the lab. There, Farrell showed Prowler one of Ock's greatest achievements: An inert sample of the Venom symbiote. It still responded to intense emotional reaction, with none of the potentially dangerous outcomes. The Prowler smiled and took the sample.
Sable was the first to undergo the procedure. She took Stunner's body. After the process was a success, she dyed her hair green and put on a new costume. Johnny remarked she looked suspiciously like Doc Samson. Such was her intent. After the Thunderbolt's fiasco, the public was resistant to totally new heroes. She in turn, provided a familiarity in her new identity. Prowler incorporated the symbiote into his costume. Then they received a tip that the Rhino was hiding out in Texas. They went and to their surprise, found the Armadillo instead.
After a brief battle, they were able to subdue the Armadillo and transport him back to their HQ. As soon as they arrived, they heard the reports that the recently turned hero Armadillo had been kidnapped. They continued the process and Donyell took Armadillo's body. Looking at plans Ock had for the Scorpion's tail, they modified them and created a mace tale for Donyell and renamed him Anklo.
Reports came in of Code Blue in battle with Quicksand and Mongoose. Again, our heroes came on the scene and trapped the villains. Cathy took the body of Quicksand, renaming herself Sandstorm. Johnny took the body of Mongoose and a cue from Sable and named himself the White Panther.
The last piece of the puzzle came when they defeated Speed Demon and Racer took his body.
Finally complete, the new team took to the public as Strikeforce 6. They fought public battles with Hydroman, The Gibbon, and the Wrecking Crew, coming out on top each time. It was during their twarting of the hired killer Chance, that tragedy struck. They were able to stop him, but not before he shot the White Panther in the head. As they arrived back at HQ, they saw that Johnny's mind had not transferred back, but had flatlined as well. There was a knock at the door.....
