Description Urg, I love her so much! She was actually pretty easy to make and her skirt didn't give me any problems, which was a huge surprise. Folding and attaching each ruffle around her bodice and sleeves was a pain though- good thing her skirt ruffles were wide enough to use the sewing machine ruffle foot! For some reason, I really like how she looks on the back; her little red necklace and shoe bows are just really cute I guess!

And yes, I included her with her grief seed. She doesn't appear to be pleased about it though...

All my anime plushies are based on Good Smile Company plushies and the eyes are edited from their Hatsune Miku figurines.

You're welcome. I love Madoka Magica so much, mainly for the cuteness, and this is really demonstrating her cuteness!

Hm its surprising to see someone who likes it mainly for its cuteness, since that really doesn't last after they start dying haha! :3

Eh, its not that violent or sad. Seriously, I didn't shed a tear throughout it. I found it more sad in Final Fantasy, when Aeris was tragically killed, or in Sonic when Maria was gunned down in front of Shadow.

I liked it for both the cuteness and moe', and for the awesome Witch Boss fights with lots of parkour and explosions and combat and such, though a couple of the Witch Boss Fights had some wasted potential, but many others were good!

I wouldn't classify it as "violent" but definitely dark and rather depressing in that nothing is really resolved in the end. It wasn't until a while after I finished it that the story really sunk in and did actually make me quite emotional. It was a new take on the "extent of keeping a promise" for a friend, but with an ending of absolute failure and a little regret.  And the new movie really drove that home. I could never take a Sonic game seriously enough to find it sad, even when that scene happened I was younger. And I don't play Final Fantasy so I can't really make an argument there. But I would say that to me personally, that the subtle sadness in Homura's  wasted effort and feeling of uselessness was much more powerful than a young girl getting shot in front her childhood friend. Thats just not as original and had no build-up.  With the Sonic game, the adventure takes place after Maria is dead, while the action in Madoka takes place before (and then technically never, since it got erased from history). This way, you don't get to see how is character really reacts to it. Madoka has that little bit in the end with Homura explaining the "concept of madoka" to Kyubey, but its brief and leaves you with a very raw feeling. The new movie actually expands on this and I would seriously recommend it; its both darker and cuter than the anime!~

By the way, it isn't different from other Magical Girl anime's for that. Heck, even Sailor Moon had a lot of characters dying already.

Like Sailor Moon (the original Magical Girl Anime) had death scenes like this girl being Stabbed To Death by a Giant Stake! Look here! -->   i.imgur.com/a4cgUIF.jpg

Also Molly's boyfriend, He died. And I'm pretty sure her Mom died in front of her too because she was transformed into a monster, right when the show was just beginning and Usagi was learning how to use her powers.

And they had a bit where everyone was obsessed with rabbits and then the rabbits turned out to be soul-sucking creatures.

And then those episodes in the amusement park where Ami was the only one safe because she couldn't be frozen or something like that.

And then when they were "normal girls" I remember the Sailor Moon Novels mentioning that Usagi had nightmares from fighting the Negaverse for so long.

Sailor Saturn's whole first arc was pretty depressing, too.

And geez. Once, I picked up the Sailor Stars manga, where they were up against Sailor Galaxy, and jeez was the angst strong in that volume. Mainly because I think everyone was either dead/dying/couldn't remember anything.

Finally, if I recall correctly, all of the Sailor Scouts except for Moon died horribly at some point in the series too.

What do you have to say about that? Maho Shoujo Madoka Magica isn't different in that manner. It is different from most Magical Girl animes in other ways, but already Magical Girl series had lots of characters dying in them.

Well, I didn't get the same feeling from it. Also I am a huge Sonic fan, and Sonic is my most favorite Anime/Game series ever, even cooler and cuter than Madoka Magica in my opinion. Perhaps that's the reason why I found it to be more sad.

You're welcome.

I also should mention that since it has to do with this, I never shed a tear either at the scene of Bambi's mother dying, even when I was younger. I wonder if that says anything about me?

frillycarnival In reply to Harukuma [2013-11-21 02:33:13 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!! Oh! It actually really easy! Make a skirt like normal (a few or more trapezoid shapes and sew them together along sides) except make it twice as long. Then fold it in half, stuff the tunnel with fluff and then sew/glue!

Awww thank you~ I just had a question on how you do the plushie's hair. Do you sew them or glue them on? And do you work on the hair after the entire inside body is done? I always have a hard time doing the hair ~_~ Thanks~

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

frillycarnival In reply to Harukuma [2013-11-22 21:07:02 +0000 UTC]

Okay! First you make the head. Which for me, is two circles sewn together, except the back one is flesh colored on the bottom half (for the nape of the neck) and top half is whatever color the hair is. And of course, the front circle is the face so it will be flesh colored as well. Now, on to the hair~ Once the head is stuffed and all ready to go, I just hot glue the bangs and long hair if they need it. Most people sew, but felt is thick and forgiving, so I think it looks fine and holds up well with a little bit of glue.

I'm not sure what you mean by your second question since my plushies heads are made separately from the body and then attached once I've finished everything.

Hope that helped you at least a little though!

(Quick question, do you paint or iron on your eyes?)

frillycarnival In reply to TheDoorWithin [2013-07-10 19:02:01 +0000 UTC]

Ah thank you so much~

I iron them on. For some people its tricky getting the sizing right, but once you figure it out, it gives them a much more professional look.

TheDoorWithin In reply to frillycarnival [2013-07-10 19:05:04 +0000 UTC]

Of course!

Yes, I would really like to iron my eyes on. I thought that was what you did. Unfortunately I kinda can't afford iron on sheets right now... >_< Plus idk if I could do that sizing thing right... Do you draw or print them?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

frillycarnival In reply to TheDoorWithin [2013-07-10 19:15:32 +0000 UTC]

I always print them- that's the tricky part! Although $20 is a little pricey, it comes with three sheets. And if you have a good method of printing them, you can place them right next to each other to save space and continue using the same sheet every time if you're sneaky and tape a page of printer paper behind it (so the printer doesn't notice that the iron paper has been all cut up!) I've made 15 plushies and I've just finished the first sheet! So its definitely something to look into to~
