Inspiration Piece: The Persistence of Memory and Futurama
Inspiration Artist: Salvador Dali and Matt Groening
The inspiration was Salvador Dali’s The Persistence of Memory and Matt Groening’s Futurama, the episode called Fry am the Eggman.
I started with the steel wire and made armatures for Mr. Peppy (the blue alien) and the tree. I covered the Mr. Peppy in chavant modeling clay and the tree in Sculpey. Then I made the boneless sheep. The sheep were made out of the rest of the chavant modeling clay, canvas cloth, floral foam block, rope, glue stick, and shredded newsprint mixed with white glue. The block of wood is used as the square similar to the painting. The canvas board is used as the background from the painting Persistence of Memory. On the canvas board is the friendly plastic pellets for the water, the rest of the floral foam block, one of the plank hard woods for the platform, and some white glue for the hill/cliff, and some newsprint mixed with white glue to make the dark ground. The platform for Mr. Peppy and the foreground is the Oak plywood. Everything is painted over with Acrylic paint.
