Oops....He needs to work on his aiming.
Naah, to be serious now: Matthew actually didn't mean to hit Jack (or his hat for that matter).
He's ashamed that he aims bad and that it almost ended very tragic this time... But because he hides behind this tough facade and won't (or maybe even can't) show his feelings, he says like that... His shame turns to anger as an alternative.
It's a whole psychological thing... Maybe you know what I'm talking about.
Jack knows that Matthew would never intent to hurt him in any way, but he doesn't always understand his actions though.
