Young Sesshoumaru vs. Mothra.... ?!
(does anyone know Mothra?! )

I wanted to do some "Young Sesshoumaru" theme drawings, so I made a full figure sketch that I can refer to later on.
Then ended up coloring it to see how it looks, and made it big enough to use it on my desktop
I gave up coloring the moth at half way through....Because, it was getting more prominent than Sesshoumaru-sama...(and I could not allow that!!)
Mothra is just a side kick! A decoration!

Colors of his clothes are pretty much the same as young Sesshoumaru from "Inuyasha movie 3", except I subdued the overall tone a little bit to make it less "pastel colors"
Before losing an arm and meeting Rin, he must have been an extremely arrogant and ruthless bad boy, despite his elegant looks and demeanor...
(I'm loving the idea )

I'm thinking this was a very brief period between his father's death and him leaving his homeland in search of Tessaiga.
(and I decided he changes his Kimono to his later one when he leaves.)

Earlier I did one "young Sesshoumaru" theme drawing called "Sesshoumaru and Reisenki"

Sesshoumaru is a character owned by Rumiko Takahashi. This colored drawing is foo-dog's. Please do not redistribute without permission.

But if i did Sesshoumaru based on other people's idea, he won't be "my version" of him, and I'm too obsessed to allow that. I'm half joking, but only half.

Then he will be someone else IMHO. I did change him to my taste and I remove his eyeshadow on my version, but I won't tinker his markings, despite the fact I don't like the moon. You should make your own version yourself!

"I consider his hand gestures as "Sesshoumaru's vocabraries" after his eyes now that is funny! Inuyasha's got his ears to give him away so Sessy has to have his hands! I like the colors, you'd think more "earthy" tones would make him blend into the background but combined with the white here they make him stand out (I remember Mothra faintly too). Great job.

It's interesting that how subtle color can actually brings whiteness out nicely... I noticed that too when I was looking for the background color. I like subtle color scheme anyway, so it work out.

Yes his hand is important Anything that gives him away is important to me !

Between the choice between butterfly and moth, I thought "moth" would be more appropriate...

I consider his hand gestures as "Sesshoumaru's vocabraries" after his eyes...

good point about his hands and eyes being the expression of emotion... except for maybe Jaken, who's only slightly more articulate

He looks mildly offended that some bug would bother to flutter near him. I've wondered myself about how Sesshomaru would act in his youth, especially after seeing movie three and knowing that he was (IF you add it into the canon) near when Inuyasha was born, just what was he doing all those years between Inuyasha being born to when he meets up with Kikyo and we start our story for all intents and purposes. It'd be fascinating to take a look at that aspect of his life, because we're led to believe that Sesshomaru has always wanted to kill Inuyasha for being that "taint." Why didn't he do it when Inuyasha was little, especially after Inuyasha's mother died???

foo-dog In reply to FarAwayEyes [2006-10-25 01:51:19 +0000 UTC]

There are many inconsistencies and logical blackholes in Inuyasha...it's like see no evil hear no evil...
It's true, it does not make sense Inuyasha was let live as long as he did, If eliminating him was a priority.
I feel that RT didn't construct Sesshoumaru's character and backgound all that well in the beginning, and she scrambled to "build his character" later on as Sesshoumaru's popularity and his potential as character grew.... (hence all that strange motives and actions of Sesshoumaru that cheapens his character...)
It's one of my biggest gripe.

But I grew to adopt to flaws and inconsistencies...because that's where we get to imagine and patch things together to make it how we like His past is very interesting area to imagine especially after his mother's appearance.

I know I always wondered what happened to Sesshomaru between the time of their father's death and Inuyasha's meeting Kikyo. We saw that one glimpse when the whole Panther tribe went after both brothers, but that technically doesn't count as it's only in the anime and NOT the manga. We saw that brief look of hurt and feeling of betrayal on Sesshomaru's face when he thought his brother would not come fight in the big battle that supposedly took place 50 years earlier, then it went to shock/a bit of fear for a moment before settling into disgust when Jaken told him why.

I just don't know what Sesshomaru did that whole time that Inuyasha was growing up. I have to wonder, as angry as he was with his father, did he just stay away and decide to go out conquering to get his own reputation and power? Maybe his honor held him back from killing Inuyasha, regardless of how he felt. He's said that about NOT killing Inuyasha when transformed. I can't imagine he'd do the dishonorable and kill a young baby, either. There's not challenge, no sport.

And yeah, I wish there weren't so many inconsistencies to drive a truck through, but I like the idea of filling in the gaps my own way to my suiting, too.

We don't get much color here - it pretty much goes from green to dead and brown. So I have to live vicariously through others!

Oh my God, that reminds me of a cracked out conversation I had with someone about Sesshomaru going through the well, transforming and destroying Tokyo, Godzilla style. And then of course, Mothra would come and much battling would ensue

InuHanyou In reply to foo-dog [2006-10-24 23:14:08 +0000 UTC]

Well... here we go..

Mothra colourings.. 1943 - was a dull silver grey with darker grey and some faint black markings...striped lightly

1967 and 1968 colourings.. very dull whites, creams, oranges, yellows and a faint red. has eye spots, and blue eyes

1992 version... colourings are deeper richer and more vibrant. the wings have what looks like half rings of colours from base of wings two sets of white and orange on a black background.. has what appears like yellow lightening after that and large red eye spots... eyes are really vibrant and electric blue.. head is white with a wide black stripe between eyes and orange under the cheeks stripes..

and he had three seperate sets of twins... all J-Singers Two with long very long hair and one set with sort of long hair.. The ones in the 1992 verison have "wings" which is attached to one arm and dress... so when they stand together and extend the outer arms up there are the wings..

I hope that helps... Can you tell I'm a Godzilla fan?

Wow, my god, you are a serious fan!
I've only seen one Mothra movie...it must have been the one from 60's. (Since I know it wasn't 92 version)
If I continued to color that moth, I think it would have ended up closer to 60's version..(I had cream and orange to add on the wing, and the photo I was using as model had that coloring)
I've never noticed that they had bue eyes! it must've been pretty with cream and orange

Oh yes!! Alot better than the black and white then colourized verison! (the larvae was a ghastly nasal green...) I collected practically all the movies I can get my hands on. In one it explains how godzilla "re-incarnates" himself/powers ... way cool.. My "doll" that I grew up with was a large plastic Godzilla that was about the same size as me... I took it everywhere I went...
