Description In response to "the spider doesn't interest me as much as the actual wasp wrapped up in the web."

This was really amazing to witness. I saw the whole drama. The wasp flew directly towards my window, its legs sprawled out really wide (it was probably about to land). And then it crashed into the spider's web. It began to thrash about madly, completely wrecking the beautifully maintained trap. I thought it was too strong, and that it would escape. I expect it would have, if it were not for the instant reaction of the spider. She scuttled across her web, and was upon her prey in seconds. Carefully avoiding the sting which was frantically sliding in and out, she ran round and round the writhing body, until it was sufficiently mummified. And this is when I took the photo. The wasp is so utterly trapped, yet the tiny threads which hold it in suspension don't seem as secure.

And there it remained. For five hours. Its body pulsating the entire time, and its sting never ceased stabbing at the air. My previous photograph (spider and wasp) is when the spider finally had enough of waiting, returned to its parcel and, once more carefully avoiding that deadly sting, ate its prey alive.

I left at this point. When I returned, all that remained was a carcass - an empty shell - dropped onto my windowsill below.

very nice.. you captured a part of nature that a lot of people don't normally like to capture. great detail, nice description. it looks very eery and creepy, just sitting there alive in its tomb.. well done!

hahah damn, the description was so interesting
as to the shot itself, it has the same feeling as the last one, which I liked. although if it was against a plain black background, it would look more... 'disturbing' isn't the right word, but it's the first word that comes to mind.

and get a damn icon dammit.
and a journal too

This is just how I feel.

Macro shots are the best kind of shots you can get. But I have yet to find a good 28mm lens for my stupid Nikon EM..

This shot is amazing. I don't know how else to describe it.

Woah!! This is really neat! You are really lucky to find a situation like this. The photo itself is also very well done. It is interesting as well as surreal in a way. Nice work!
