Soooo, What do YOU call a pregnant goldfish?
I showed my sister the 'mutual thing' series by =Apofiss

and she adored them and wanted me to draw her something like it.
It's almost directly inspired by those works, so the concept isn't mine in any way.
I'm not happy with it, exactly, but I'm struggling with the most basic elements (shape of heads at certain angles... blending the paint - it got too thick and was producing smears) and decided to stop.
I do like parts of it - the cat, the light through the water, and I got to experiment with
ArtRage a bit more.
This took 3-4 hours, but I will have to try again. It will have to be a new picture though, as this one is too decided to change now.

Just wonderful. I love the colors, the idea, the sprakling parts in here. I'm not so much into digital paitings, so I'm sorry for not giving advanced critique, but I can at least say that I love it!

Heh,thank you, it's wonderful to hear you love it - and critique can be anything (colour, composition, lacking/busy, something badly drawn...) so please don't be put off by that! (Uh, not actually having any critique to give is different, of course, but please don't let 'digital' put you off)

I like your rendering of the fish very much, and I'm most impressed by all those little dancing sparkles on what I believe to be the waterfall. Just to the left of the cat, there is a ghostly impression too of a face, which, though perhaps unintentional, lends another enigmatic touch...

The sparkles are (digital) paint dots that are smeared with a flat palette knife/tool, and I had to be very careful because if they run together you get a gant smear.
And I hadn't noticed the face

Love the colours you were going with and I don't see anything wrong with the heads (aside for a slight wish for a bit more detail on the fish).

I think I got them right in the end, but it was by trial and error rather than being able to see the problem. And by that point I was so sick of it not working and not being able to 'see' what I was trying to do or what needed to be done that I gave up - including on the fish, which I agree, needs more detail/less fadingness.
Can't remember...might have been a feature or a fave. But it is a lovely one.

Lovely! My impression is of a cat's dream...a happy dream. I imagine it almost like being within the northern lights and the cat just lazily reaching out to bat at the fish as they float/swim by, and purring all the while.

I think it's great! But the background should emphasize the characters in them... I see the fishy is sorta fading in that bg....

Oh, but the artist always has to decide whether you like your work or not.
In some of my works I don't care what anybody says because I like the work as it is and nothing else. So I don't care about the critique, though i might take it for the next work.
