As suggested by *Whotunes , I did a painting of our favorite drummer, Keith Moon, with his "Pictures of Lily" drum kit. Definitely one of the more challenging pieces I've done recently, but a lot of fun. Hope all of you Wholigans like this!Related content

Okay, comments:
- The colors in this piece are amazing--such a perfect shade of pink! Like a sunset...
- I love all the vertical lines in this and the way they draw the eye upward to Keith's face. Not only the letters spelling "The Who" that pop out, but the shimmer on the hi-hats and the one long line that makes up all Keith's facial features.
- All the detail in the kit itself is astounding. Even if I didn't know a thing about the guy, I'd immediately know it was his signature kit.
- Lastly, the pose and expression! Chin up, vaguely spacey, looking at the audience as if slightly elevated but still somehow on their level. That's our Keith!
So this is my favorite picture you've done (which is really saying something, since Ringo is my favorite drummer ever and I'm biased in favor of him). I've been through your gallery and it's amazing how you can just see the style getting better and better

All the detail work on the drum set is truly amazing~ there is obviously a lot of effort put into all the fine line work c: It's a rarer difficult set to draw.
And of course Keith is just adorable<3 I like how the colors of his clothes reflect the colors of his kit

Thank you! Yeah, the drums were quite the challenge. Lots of details. But at least it's only an 11-piece set- later he would use 20 (or more) piece kits and I was not about to try and figure out the perspective for that.
Thanks! I was trying to capture the excited expression he has in some pictures I love of him. And the clothes are from a reference I found of him playing this kit, it looks like it was on some TV show in the 60s. I wish I could find a video of this performance, it's the ultimate Mod band and they're all dressed like Rockers! John's wearing these epic red leather pants and they're all wearing pimped-out black leather jackets... it's pretty fab.

Well I just love it and yeah a 20 piece kit would be insane to draw~ But I do like that it has the signature " Patent British Exploding Drummer" so it's all worth it! Oh very cool, I hope you do find the video in the future? Maybe someone on who_slash may know? Haha sounds absolutely fabulous~ gosh that would be a treat to see that c:

Thank you so much! "Exciting" is pretty much what I was going for here. The guy in the picture was well-known for his hyperactive behavior, kicking his drums over or even blowing them up at the end of a set!

I guess anything involving Keith Moon has a certain amount of fun and chaos to it, and this painting was fun and chaos from start to finish. I'm so glad you like it, this piece was especially done with you in mind.
