Can’t eat ramen in peace…
So there seems to be a debate with these magical horses. Now I’ve seen tons of awesome pictures with MLP characters carrying weapons and such. So why wouldn’t they be able to carry them? I don't think it should matter, whatever the breed.
Octavia’s cameo is there to strengthen my point. Now I’m no musician, but don’t you need fingers to play any stringed instrument? Just... a thought…

i played viola for three years. havnt uched it though. the one time I tried tuning it I busted the A string....I can still play it though

I agree with your perspective on "the Hoof Conundrum" 
In the context of a world which follows, to a certain degree, cartoon logic, it really shouldn't be a problem.
If the challenge faced aids in character development, or for humour (as in Twilight trying to put on her saddle in Winter Wrap Up),
that's great! But if it impedes story or character development, there's not need to be a stickler about it!

Some people who argue this issue use either the cannon of the show or “logic” to support their point. To say “earth ponies” can’t do something because of logic… just doesn’t make sense to me. Like in pictures of MLP characters using bow and arrows or whatever. They’ll suggest it should be a unicorn because a horse can’t hold the bow, LOL! I’m just saying if you’re gonna say one thing can’t work; than nothing should work, “logically”.

Yeah. I think it's OK to have things which are not "logical" in terms of our world.
As long as long as a story is internally consistent - i.e. it follows it's own logic,
then it is believable, and everyone can enjoy it
This applies in cartoons too!

Shoot, I look at any ponies that play musical instruments. The background pony playing the piano, ponies with ties, etc. things that you would obviously need hands. You couldn't use your mouth all the time, try using a hammer with your mouth (referring to the construction ponies) you're gonna have a bad time. So in the land of lollipops and rainbows, I'm sure these magical ponies don't need thumbs. LOL!
